Last Minute Reminder:
2008 Mentally Challenged Drive/Tootsie Roll Drive

Brothers,

The Tootsie Roll Drive is set for October 18th and 19th, 2008.

I have asked all the councils in Nevada that are participating in the tootsie roll drive to submit to me their candy order by Aug. 24th. I need to place the order for the Tootsie Rolls tomorrow, 28 Aug. 2008. So please submit your orders today if you need to do so!!

I want to thank the councils and their chairmen that have submitted their orders to date. They are;
Council 978 Contact Patrick Stoll
Council 2828 Contact John Suchewski
Council 4828 Contact Richard Cordova
Council 8078 Contact Mike Dougherty
Council 8282 Contact Scott Davus
Council 12543 Contact Richard Laquidara
Council 13456 Contact Herman Sisneros
Council 13754 Contact Don Sand
Council 13842 Contact Tim Ortez

Last year we raised over 60,637.56. With your strong support and leadership, we can meet and surpass that total this year.

Your chairman should be assembling his teams and estimating how many boxes of Tootsie Rolls you'll need for this year's drive. Start scouting out your locations, and don't forget to ask for your Pastor's help. The forms you need (order forms, reporting forms and contact information) are on the State website
Click on the "For Officers" link (above.)
Please look at these soon and be sure to get your orders in buy the deadline.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have questions. I'll do everything I can to help you make this drive a continuing success!

Fraternally,

Fernando Ruvalcaba

Review the 126th Supreme Convention

Supreme Knight Calls on Knights to Live Faith in All Aspects of Their Lives
Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson’s annual report, delivered Tuesday at the 126th Supreme Convention, highlights achievements and calls on Knights to live out their faith in every aspect of their lives.

Resolutions Passed on Life, Marriage Issues
Delegates to the 126th Supreme Convention Aug. 7 adopted resolutions calling for “legal and constitutional protection … for the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others” and opposing “any governmental action or policy that promotes abortion, embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, euthanasia, assisted suicide and other offenses against life.”

Knights Must Live the Spirit of the Transfiguration, says Montreal Cardinal
In a stirring homily on the second day of the 126th Supreme Convention, Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte of Montreal weaved together a number of applications of the convention theme, “Building a Civilization of Love Through Charity, Unity and Fraternity.”

Most Rev. Dino thanks State Council for Seminarian offering
Bishop of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Van Nuys

Brother Knights and Ladies,

I received a letter of sincere thanks from Most Rev. Gerald N. Dino, Bishop of the Eparchy of Van Nuys, for the gift of $2,746.89 which was given to him from the Nevada State Council/Seminarian Raffle Fund.  The monies will go to offset the cost of the expenses for Seminarian, Diodoro Mendoza from Our Lady of Wisdom Church in Las Vegas.  His studies are at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, PA.  Bishop Dino has asked for us to keep Diodoro in our prayers.

I want to thank all my Brother Knights and their families, for their donations, time, and selfless efforts given; that make our Seminarian Raffle Fund possible and successful.

Please See Bishop Dino's thank you letter below.

Vivat Jesus!

Living Rosary services
Fallon, & Reno

Council 4828 in Fallon sponsors Living Rosary Prayer Services on the 1st Saturdays of each month at 9:00 a.m. and on the 3rd Wednesdays of each month, typically at 7:00 p.m., just before their regular business meeting.  Everyone is invited.

If you live closer to Reno, or are going to be in the Reno area, then please plan to attend the Living Rosary services that are typically held over there at the same time (across from the abortion center near Meadowood Mall.)  It doesn't matter where you attend these services, the most important thing is that we get as many people as possible to join in prayer for an end to abortion and for the protection of life at all stages, so please help spread the word about both the Reno and Fallon services to all of our fellow Br. Knights and to our fellow parishioners.

Our Commitment to You
by Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson - 9/7/2007

We do not invest in high-risk vehicles such as derivatives and junk bonds, nor do we invest in the types of structured transactions that are currently causing such turmoil in the markets. We stay away from them not because we don't understand them - but because we do understand them - and the risk they entail.
