Brothers.

He has been in the hospital since the shooting and was throught to be recovering. He came down with an infection that the Doctors seem not able to overcome.

Frank has informed me that a memorial service will be held on Saturday 21 or the 28. All dates are tentative for obvious reasons.

Prayers need for Fr. Tom Cronin

Fr. Tom Cronin of Reno was sent to the Hospital in Sacramento last weekend during a retreat at the Christ the King retreat center.

This is the latest update that I have on Fr. Tom Cronin. After his stress test, the doctors found an area of concern which they noticed during the angiogram. A vessel at the bottom of the heart has two narrowing places that are of borderline concern. Ordinarily they would just continue to watch these, but since Fr. Tom lives in Nevada at a higher altitude and is 40 miles from a hospital, they decided to do surgery. So tomorrow, Friday, at 7:30 a.m. they will be putting in two stents. If all goes well, he will be coming home this weekend. He will probably go to the rectory at St. Mary’s in the Mountains.

Keep the prayers coming.

Prayer for the soul of brother Glenn Reschke and Alice French

Brothers: Please prayer for the soul of brother Glenn Reschke of Holy Family Council 7708 who was called home to the Lord last week. Reschke, a third degree member of the order, is survived by his wife of 54 years and five children. He worked as a bartender and always attended Saturday service - where he and his wife often brought up the gifts.

Also, Alice French, wife of brother Bill French, died last Thursday. Her funeral is at 11 a.m this Friday at Holy Family. Bill and Alice were a great team - they taught CCD together, served at the 9:30 Sunday mass and often took their favorite priest, Fr. Innocent, for breakfast.

Retired from New York, Bill and Alice were regulars at morning mass and active in other church clubs - Alice was part of the Catholic Daughters.

Alice was diagnosed with cancer last year, but didn?t let her bad health interfere with her passion for serving the church. She we be greatly missed by our parish community and brother knights.

Please join me in remembering these two great individuals.

Day 28:

Sorry for not updating his site I have been really busy the last couple of days with loggie. He is such a handful now that he is awake and playing he wants his mommies attention all the time!!

So yesterday was a very big exciting day for Logan. They removed his pigtail drain from his chest he didn't like that too much. Then they did a chest x-ray to make sure that everything still looking good in his chest now that that tube is gone. Then after that mommy cuddled with Loggie so he could seddle down and take a nap while we waited for his new room. Yes Logan upgraded to the Pediatrics floor...that means one step close to him coming to join me at the Ronald McDonald house.

Today I changed his ostomy bag jsut so that I am confortable with it before he is discharged. I also changed the gauze that was on his incison he still has two spots one on each side that's not completely healed but its almost there!!! I also gave most of his medications as well so that I am used to giving them to him. On Monday I will go in early so that I can learn all the meds and what time they are to be given and how much so that when he goes home I will make sure I am giving him the right meds and amounts. They also provide me with this cool chart that shows all the meds he is on and what time and dose they are so that I can make sure he is getting everything he needs. Also on Monday Sarah the transplant coordinator (one of the many) will sit down with me for a couple hours just to go through everything and how things will work at home away from home and then eventually when we return to minnesota. Then we have a home care agency that will be coming in to teach me how to use the feeding pump that he will need and the bags. Monday will be a busy day for mommy. So they are thinking my early to mid next week Logan will be joining me at the Ronald McDonald house.

Today Logan did very well. He was napping when I arrived there this morning and slept for a couple hours then woke up and mommy played with him. Then a couple hours later after playing hard and getting all that stuff done to him mommy and him sat down and rocked in the rocking chair and the little guy passed out for maybe 30 mins. Mom held him til 6pm and then taht's when mommy called it a day.

Logan is a miracle and I have learned so much from him. God puts children on the earth so we can raise them and cherish them and be grateful for the blessings he gives to us. Remember not to be greedy or think your child will always be healthy and strong I have learned that with the one mom I am very close too her daughter was perfectly healthy until she was 13 then was diagnosed with pancreas cancer that is only found in 70 year old men. Live each day as it if it were your last because honestly you don't know when your time is but make sure you enjoy your time. I love Logan more than anything in this world and he will know that he was a fighter and a survivor of a very serious medical condition and I will show the world and teach the world on what I have learned from being a young mom dealing with all of this.

Logans mommy

Day 24:

Well there was a lot that has happened in the last couple of days with the little trooper.

Yesterday they took Logan off of the vent. They also took his tubes feeds away so that when he would get sick then he wouldn't have a bunch of stuff in his tummy. He passed all the tests they had to get him ready to be de-vented. So they put him on a iv fluid like d10 or something just so his body was still being hydrated and getting nutrients.

The doctors rounded today and said Logan looks great. They said that he was doing amazing breathing on his own. They had him on oxygen yesterday but he was breathing room air all day so they are probabl removing the oxygen tube from his nose tonight ( loggie hates that tube).

Today we had the care conference that they have with all transplant families a couple weeks after to talk about how the progress is going. They had nothing but good things to say about Logan. They have discussed removing his chest tube in the morning as long as the fluid output doesn't increase. They will also be taking away the d10 away. By doing that they will increase his tibe feeds to 30mls again which is the max feeds. I also found out they removed a bunch of his stomach so his tummy will be a little on the small side but it's nothing you can't deal with.

There was also another exciting piece of information that they shared with me. They said that possibly on Monday of next week they will bump his formula up to a higher calorie formula and they will try to give it to him by a bottle and see how he does with that. Then they talked about how they would teach me how to mix formula and take care of Logan and possibly in as little as 2 weeks Logan would be able to join me at the Ronald McDonald house and just have to go in when he has check ups.

I had also thanked everyone for getting Logan to Omaha. I said that they not only got him his organ's but they saved his life and I will never be able to show them my gratitude on how thaknful I truly am that they saved my sons life he is the most important thing in my life.

Love Loggie's Mommy

Please pray for John Holien friend and faithful brother of Mother Seton Council 11029.

He is currently battling an E-Coli superbug that multiple antibiotics have not been able to kill. After 3 days in the hospital he returned home today but is still on IV's. On top of that, his doctor told him today he has prostrate cancer, (he had biopsies done a week ago). While the doctors felt confident that the cancer is treatable, they can't start treatment until he beats this bug.

Please pray that John can beat this bug and begin a successful treatment soon.

Carmel Camillery Memorial Mass

Brothers,

Carmel Camillery passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010. A Memorial Mass will be held for him on Thursday, July 22, 2010 @ 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi. Carmel was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, Council # 13456

Fraternally,

Herman Sisneros, Grand Knight

Joe Pacifico, Financial Secretary

Biography
Carmel Camillery was blessed with an abundance of leadership qualities. It would be accurate to say that this man was an outstanding luminary and that his natural abilities served him well. He knew with certainty how he wanted to set priorities in all aspects of his life. He struck those who knew him as the kind of person who awoke in the morning with a clear sense of exactly what he expected from his day and how to set about accomplishing those goals. Carmel was a man who definitely liked order and was most comfortable with an organized and structured lifestyle. When this climate was absent, Carmel would set about immediately to create it.

Carmel was born on August 22, 1941 at home in Mosta, Malta to Anthony and Mary Camillery. Carmel was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and was brought up to be reasonable in his actions and was taught to use his intellect wisely. He was an honest and straightforward child, traits that reinforced his self-confidence. Even at a young age, Carmel was credited with having a positive influence on those around him.

The positive atmosphere that Carmel generated spread to his family. Carmel was raised with three siblings. He had two older brothers, Joseph and Paul and one younger sister, Maryann. Carmel served as a catalyst within the family. He often found himself in the role of providing fair solutions to those sibling disputes. In every family activity, Carmel was able to demonstrate his uncommon logic and skill at building compromise.

Carmel's enthusiasm for learning and the personal energy that enthusiasm generated led to his exhibiting leadership qualities early on in his childhood. He liked to see things executed properly and showed a skill for taking control of situations that were drifting out of control. At the same time, he was willing to experiment with different approaches as he worked a plan towards a solution. As a young boy, he took part in handball, tennis and racquetball. In his spare time he liked classic comic books.

When it came to academics and school, Carmel's organizational skills reaped dividends. Carmel was able to create a system for getting his class work done in a proper and timely manner. With a strong ability to analyze his schoolwork and assignments, he could apply a practical, common sense approach completing his studies. He showed a natural curiosity in the manner in which he tackled new types of problems and would regularly challenge his own reasoning ability in finding solutions. He graduated from James Madison High School in 1960. He enjoyed some courses more than others, with his favorite class being Math.

The work habits and approaches to studying that Carmel utilized in high school also served him well in college. Carmel always seemed on a quest for knowledge. He was able to generalize, summarize and compile information for his classes, employing a matter-of-fact approach. Carmel was intuitive and mentally alert, seemed to crave the challenge of solving complex problems. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Pace University in New York in 1970. His favorite course was Accounting.

In a group of friends and acquaintances, Carmel was typically the first person to take the initiative to go up and greet someone new. That quality made him very approachable by others throughout his life. This same quality brought Carmel the reward of many friends. Maintaining loyalty to those friends was a trait that came naturally to Carmel. He believed that he should treat others in a fair manner, in the same way he wanted to be treated. Carmel also showed a great deal of appreciation for the accomplishments of his friends. While growing up he had many friends. Carmel moved to Walden, New York in November of 1971 and became friends with Pat & Roger, Vinnie & Chris, Jane & Al, Alan & Donna and many more. He then moved to Henderson, Nevada in June 2007 and made new friends with Olive & Pat, Elsy & Bill, Steen & Nancy, Lynn & Bill, Dan & DiDi, John & May, and our neighbors, Ernie & Connie, and Barbara & Mike. Also, his friends at Tai Chi class, Ballroom Dance Club and his friends at Longevitology.

As Carmel knew in other aspects of his life, he had a clear vision of what he sought in a relationship and worked hard to achieve it. On September 7, 1963 Carmel exchanged wedding vows with Maryann Mezzatesta at Good Shepard Church in Brooklyn, New York. Maryann was a significant part of his life, and it wasn’t necessary for Carmel to be overly sentimental or expressive about it for others to be aware of their mutual devotion. Carmel's secret to success was that he always kept the lines of communication open in the marriage and applied the important skill of being a good listener.

Family and children were important to Carmel, even if he didn’t always show it. Carmel was blessed with one child, a son, Anthony. Carmel was able to keep order in the family by using the same efficient and straightforward methods with the family as he did at work. Carmel rarely made a scene when it came to discipline. Instead, he was subtle and patient in his dealings when teaching the children right from wrong.

At work Carmel was viewed as a natural leader. He could marshal all of the available resources, including personnel and materials, in order to meet virtually any objective. He was great at developing strategies and made maximum progress with little wasted effort. Carmel was also adept at uncovering new and more efficient ways of getting things done. He was able to establish and meet objectives and schedules through long range planning and was always able to keep the big picture clearly in sight. Although Carmel might have been described by some as an overachiever, he was without question a dedicated and diligent employee. His primary occupation was as an Accountant/ Controller. He was employed for 40 years by Hugo Neu and Edenwood Corporation.

Not only did Carmel find pleasure in pursuing his various hobbies, he also enjoyed the discovery and research involved in learning about them. His skill at problem solving had a positive influence on these activities as well. One of his favorite pursuits was ballroom dancing.

No matter what the activity was, Carmel had the ability to motivate others. This talent influenced his participation in sports, too. He sought out the possibilities in a competitive situation, and he stayed cool and calm under pressure. He relished the stimulation of the action and energy associated with sports. Recreational sports included bowling, tennis, Tai Chi, and snow skiing. He was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Top on his list was tennis.

Carmel's ability to motivate, direct and organize others made him a valuable asset to the organizations to which he contributed during his lifetime. Carmel was one who could be counted on to work hard to implement goals and required little to begin work on a specific task. Once a project was begun, Carmel had a definite methodology for seeing it through to completion. Throughout his later years, Carmel was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Carmel was a man who took pride in upholding his beliefs. Politically, Carmel was a strong supporter of the Republican Party.

Carmel lived his life guided by a well-defined set of beliefs. His faith and religion were important aspects of those beliefs. He was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Walden, New York for 25 years and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada for three years.

Traveling, especially vacations, was another way for Carmel to apply his exceptional leadership and organizational skills. He liked exploring different places but also enjoyed designing and scheduling the trips in advance. He had real talent for developing the perfect itineraries. Favorite vacations included Caribbean Cruises, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Mexico and Alaska.

Carmel was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. Carmel's favorites were Princess, Smokey, Meiko and Amber, all German Shepard dogs. His family was rounded out by his two parrots.

When Carmel's retirement finally came in 2007, he was well prepared. He had worked out all of the details well in advance and knew exactly what he was going to do. His new life involved relocating to Henderson, Nevada. In retirement, he found new pleasure in staying active in church, ballroom dancing and computer classes. He also greatly enjoyed Tai Chi and exercising at the community center. Always a well-informed person, Carmel enjoyed adding to his wealth of knowledge. Retirement afforded him the time to enjoy that experience and provided one more opportunity to look ahead at what life might offer him.

Carmel fought a brave battle against cancer until he passed away on July 12, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Maryann and his son, Anthony. Services were held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada. Carmel was laid to rest in Palm cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Carmel Camillery knew what he wanted from life and never hesitated in going after it. He could be characterized as a driven individual, someone who understood the importance of achievement. Carmel was decisive and outspoken at times but was also positive and upbeat about most things. He was a leader, both intentionally and sometimes by default. If he saw that something needed to be done, he was always ready to step up and actualize, organize and implement a plan.

Update on Frank P's son

Brother Knights and Ladies,

Here is a the most recent communication I received from Frank regarding his son... Tony.

Please continue with prayers for them.

Jim Kelly, SD

From: Frank Pulice
Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2010 16:59:29 -0400
Subject: Re: Your son
To: Jim Kelly

Bro. Jim: I sure appreciate your continued inquiries about my son's condition - very considerate.

Tony is making some positive progress - they have him sitting up 3 or more hours a day and trying to waine him off the ventilator, but the latter process is slow. Addionaly, he has more movement in his arms and he is having daily therepy to increase same. Unfotunately, however, he still has minimal movement in his legs, but I'm advised it is possible that condition may improve (?). He is still in the ICU ad is likely he will remain there until he is off the ventilator. So, in summary, he continues to slowly impprove , but, boy, it's a long and tedious process and the ultimate result is still unknown.

Please be assured that all the prayers are greatly appreciated.

I continue to monitor your final Membership stats - hope your last minute efforts pay off.

Take Care,

Frank Pulice

Please keep my best friend "Leona" in your prayers

Please keep my best friend in your prayers

Leona ran my office for many years. On Friday she had a brain aneurysm explode, on Saturday she was pronounced clinically brain dead. She is an organ donor and they will take various organs on Sunday am. She is giving the gift love & life after death as she did in her short life on earth. She was my best friend and I loved her dearly. My office staff and clients will miss her as well.

Please say a little prayer for Leona. Some of you knew her, she was a little shy when it came to social functions, but has attended with me in the past.

I will really miss my best friend.

Reality check stands out in times like this, we are all part of God's plan.

As our lessons tell us, death will come to all of us, we know not when, or where or how.

Prayer request for Carol Holzhauer

Brothers,

The following is health report on Carol Holzhauer, wife of PSD Frank Holzhauer. Carol was waiting to have a carotid artery surgery on her right side. She had an angiogram on Wed., 6-10. There was found to be no blockage and she was sent home with that good news. Carol's left side felt "weird" and it was thought to be the result of the drugs and the fact that she had to remain still for several hours after the angiogram procedure. This was at 4PM on 6-10. By 9PM, the "weirdness" had not disappeared and Carol called the doctors office. He told her to go to the emergency. After several tests it was determined that Carol had a very minor stroke. She spent Wed. & Thurs. nights in the hospital. It has been decided by the surgeon, Frank, and Carol to go ahead and have the carotid artery surgery tomorrow, Saturday, 6-12. We do not have a definite time yet, but it will probably be in the morning. The risk of doing surgery Saturday is less than the risk of waiting. We have the best surgeon in the area doing this. Our hopes are very high.

Please keep Carol and Frank in your prayers.

Hi Short Timer!

Thanks for your inquiry, Jim.

Tony is doing much better this week. Last week he had a heart pacer proceedure, since his heart was stopping frequently due nerve damage, and he's alert with some movement of his arms, but nothing yet in the legs. Also, he's still on a ventilator, but hopefully, getting off of that will be the next major event - I hope. So, it's still a waiting game, as to what the future holds, and we continue to pray.

Thanks again, and take care

Frank
