Update on Brenda Foster

Worthy Brothers,   My wife Brenda Foster foster is now at home at least for the weekend.  Next week she will have to return to the hospital to undergo some tests involving her lungs that are painful, but neccesary.  These test will hopefully determine the cause of the illness.  The catscan she underwent showed that she has developed scar tissue in her lungs if infact that the test prove to be inconclusive, she was recomended to go to UCLA med. center.  Presently she is on oxygen and has to do allbuterol breathing treatments.  She can move around but , as little as possible.

I'm asking again worthy Brothers for you to please keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers as she, we face the next few weeks with uncertianty.

Letter #2; Update on Nick Vuolo, Thanks for prayers...

Brother and Sir Knight Nick Vuolo is a member of KofC Council 10442 and Assembly 2820 in Las Vegas. Sir Knight Vuolo is also in Sunrise Hospital, 3186 South Maryland Pkway, Las Vegas, NV 89109, Telephone: (702) 731-8000.

(12/24/06) CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS to each of you,   Once again, I would like to "Thank you" for your prayers.  The power of prayer  is truly amazing, "THANK YOU", "THANK YOU".  Nick being with us is our Christmas  present miracle!.  We are so fortunate and blessed.

Yesterday he started eating a light diet and they had him sitting in a chair.  Last night they had him walk along the nurses station.  My son Lenny shaved him and he felt like a million bucks!!  He was able to make a few wise cracks and facial expressions that only he can make.  The Nick that we all love is definitely on the road to recovery!!

This mornings' visiting hours was another prayer answered.  He was smiling so brightly and said with a very strong voice "Good morning sweetheart".  As he was eating breakfast, each doctor that checked him was diagnosing good progress.  His kidneys are a concern but we are taking one day and step at a time. Nick sat in the chair for most of the day and walked four different times around the nurses station.

He is doing a great job with the blowing machine as his lungs are getting stronger.  He is becoming a real champ!  He ate well today and is building up his strength. Tomorrow he might leave CCICU and go to a step down intensive care room. He needs to cough more but is in a tremendous amount of pain when he does. He earned his big red heart pillow and squeezes it as he tries so hard to bring up the mucus. For the most part, he is doing well.  I tell him all your messages of love and concern.   He is so aware of all your prayers and we both Thank You very much.

We both wish a "Merry Christmas" to you and your families and a blessed new year. Good health, laugh, have fun and just enjoy life.

Sincerely,   Donna Urso-Vuolo

Prayers requested for Frank Dendary

Brother Knights and Ladies,   We ask for prayers for Frank Dendary, father of State Secretary Paul Dendary.  Frank had to go back in for emergency surgery today (12/23/06,) and is in critical condition.

A week ago, He first had a 6 hour emergency surgery on December 16 and was on a ventilator.  They had to cut out two sections of his intestine due to tumors which they have sent to the lab for tests.  They found four hernias which they repaired.  His stomach lining was so thin that they had to repair it with cadaver tissue.   We will send updates as soon as available.

Please keep Frank Dendary and the Dendary Family in your prayers during their time of need.     Thank you..

On behalf of the Nevada State Council,       Vivat Jesus!

Letter; Update on Nick Vuolo, Thanks for prayers...

"MERRY CHRISTMAS" TO EACH OF YOU!

Thank You very much for praying for Nick.  It has been a very tough and serious time for him. I THANK GOD with all my heart that he is with us because this is truly a MIRACLE.

On Sunday, December 3rd he was rushed to Southern Hills Hospital.  He had a very serious case of pneumonia. His whole right lung was filled. Because of his diabetes, he never felt it coming on.  I thank God for the many health field people that truly helped save his life.

There were the four men on the two ambulances that responded to Nick's call for help, they needed to inter bate him for he was unable to breath, my son-in-law Sam who is a doctor, met me in the street with the ambulances and called his cousin who is a respiratory doctor to meet us at the hospital.  This extremely fast action to care for Nick again, saved his life. I was told he was in dangerous, critical condition and might not survive the night. He was actually a dead man but they would do their best to save him and they did...  They x-rayed, took blood samples and worked on him ASAP and Dr. Weil Ead put him on three very strong antibiotics before the emergency doctor saw him.

Nick had a heart attack as well in the ambulance.  During the 16 days he spent in Southern Hills Hospital recuperating from the pneumonia and heart attack, they had to do many tests including a stress test. With that he was scheduled for an angiogram or heart catheter. The results were that Nick had six or more blocked arteries that needed to be operated on right away. Nick has had this problem for many years.  His heart doctor had always told him he was too much of a risk because of his renal failure and diabetes. He never knew how extensive the problem was because he wasn't tested for it.

Nick gained his strength and was taken to Sunrise Hospital for by pass surgery Tuesday, December 19th. Dr. Peter Vajtai was to perform the surgery. This man is truly a miracle maker sent from God.  Nick and I were told the risks involved but Nick did not have a choice, he needed the by pass done immediately.  Nick was in GREAT spirits too as he said "Get it done with already".

The surgery was a long six and a half hours for there were many complications.  It was a very hard and critical surgery.  When Dr. Vajtai finally came out to the waiting room, he said Nick made the operation.  The next day or so is critical but he is going to be all right.  He is in critical condition, he went through a lot, the six arteries were like lead pipes, all blocked up, all calcified and he could only clean out and by pass four arteries. The other two arteries he could not get a needle into them. Nick would be on a respirator for a few days and then he will be weaned off. They are concerned with all his numbers for blood sugar, renal failure etc. He is in CCICU.  Right now visitors are not allowed. The doctors and nurses do not want him to move or try to talk. He is restained and in a lot of pain. Also we have to be so careful of germs.

Nick's body and mind is strong. He had started walking last spring and his diabetes has been under control this last year.  This has been a tremendous, positive energy force for him to get through this. I am very proud of him.

Both Nick and I appreciate from the bottom of our hearts all your thoughts, prayers and kind words. "Thank You".  Please continue to keep Nick in you heart and prayers.

I will get back to you when I can.  Please do not call the CCICU because they can not give you any information on their patients. I have been giving and leaving messages to various people in the Knights to keep you updated.

Thank You once again for all your prayers, God Bless you,

Sincerely, Donna Urso-Vuolo

Prayers Requested for the Repose SK Jack Waldeisen's Soul

Brother Knights, it was with deep sorrow that, earlier today,  I learned of the passing of Sir Knight and Brother Jack G. Waldeisen.  Brother Jack originally joined the Knights of Columbus in 1976.  Somewhere along the way he dropped out, but in November of 2001, he found his way back to us.  He rejoined Council 4828 in Fallon and also joined Fourth Degree Assembly 2739, also in Fallon.

Br. Jack was a very active member and routinely participated in Council and Assembly meetings and our extra functions, as well, especially when we operated the concession stand at the local Top Gun Drag Races.  He served as a Council Officer from 2001/2 through 2005/6, holding the positions of Inside Guard, Outside Guard, and Warden.  His health prevented him from being able to hold any Council offices during the current year.  Br. Jack also served as an Assembly Officer from 2003/4 through present and held the offices of One-Year Trustee and Outer Sentinel. Whenever his health permitted, Br. Jack also attended Mass on a daily basis.  He will be missed, not only by his Council and Assembly, but by his fellow parishioners, as well.

Br. Jack passed away at the VA Hospital on 13 December at the age of 70.  Please pray for the repose of his soul and also for his family.  No services have been announced at this time.

Father Burns joined the Knights in March 1954 (transferred to Council 7322 in 1984) and the 4th Degree, Bishop Manogue Assembly in February 1995.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Holy Family Parish in Portola on Wednesday, November 8, Starting a 6:00 PM. It is recommended you arrive early, a large crowd is expected. A 4th Degree Color Guard is being requested. Holy Family Parish is located at 108 Taylor Avenue, Portola, CA 96122.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of our dear and beloved former Pastor, Fr. Bernard Burns.

Please say all the prayers you can for his young wife and for Pablo and his little daughter. Thank you for your help from Mesquite Council #13754 but mostly from Pablo Vielman.

Update on Jerry Nebron, father-in-law of Dave Ryan

My father-in-law's Surgery went very well and they are sure they got all the cancer.  They did have to take his bladder, prostrate and some of the lymph nodes.  They took the lymph nodes only to check for the spread of the cancer to this area but it came back clean.  They didn't even put him in ICU but took him back to his regular room after the surgery and had him up and out of bed the next morning before we got to the hospital.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, Tracy and I really appreciate all my Brother Knights and their families for what you have done for us during this time.
