Prayers for my Aunt Nina Mikaitis and Family of Thomas Boganski

Dear Brother Knights and Ladies Auxillary members;

I am requesting Prayers for my Aunt Nina Mikaitis who was taken to Valley Hospital on Sunday evening after suffering an apparent Stroke. She has suffered two seizures and is now in the Intensive Care Unit and was placed on Life Support equipment in critical condition.

My Aunt (88) is the Sister of my surviving Mother (90) who lost my Father (94) on September 3rd. So I am also requesting Prayers for my Mother and our whole family. This has been a particularly bad year as we also lost my Father's Brother last December 27th.

Brother Knights and Ladies,

Here's an update from Brother Knight Robert Drislane of Council 13456 in Henderson, for his son Michael.

Michael is out of ICU, and has been transported to an acute hospital on the campus of Vanderbilt University. He remains comatose, and the doctors feel he has significant brain trauma and damage; however the doctors seem upbeat about his prognosis, because of his youth and physical condition before the accident.

Robert would like to thank all brother knights and their families for their continued prayers for Michael's improvement and recovery.

Prayers Requested for Sir Knight Brother Anthony Fernandes and Christman Family

Brothers;

Please keep in your prayers the Fernandes and Christman Families on the loss of their father and father-in-law, Sir Knight Brother Anthony Fernandes (Tony). Brother Tony died in a tragic house December 19th in Hidden Valley. Brother Tony was 97 years old and living at his daughter's home, Veda Christman. It was the Christman home that had extensive damages and the family isn't able to spend Christmas at home.

Brother Tony is an Honorary Life Member with Council 2730 (August 1, 1951) in Oakland and 4th Degree Assembly #70 (March 1, 1961). Funeral is schedule for Tuesday, Dec 30 in San Leandro, CA , with a Rosary planned for Monday night. His Council and Assembly in California are handling the KofC presents at the service. SK/Brother Tony didn't transfer to a local Council in Nevada. No Reno/ Sparks service is planned, even thought he lived many years in the Reno/Sparks area and attend Immaculate Conception Parish.

Prayers Requested for PGK Council 8282 Frank Lenzo

PGK Council 8282 Frank Lenzo is in Desert Springs Hospital recovering from bypass and heart valve surgery. Surgery was a week ago this past Friday and he is still in intensive care recovering. He is not out of the woods yet and is taking baby steps to recovery. With the grace of God Brother Frank should move to a regular room and bed by Monday.

Please pray for Frank as his brother Knights at Council 8282 are doing.

Sir Knight John Lubich passed away on December 15, 2008 after suffering from a long illness. He joined the Knights in 1960, and was a member of Nevada Council 978 and Bishop Manogue Assembly.

His funeral mass will take place on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Church in Reno.

It is amazing in the blessed time of the year that I have another favor to ask my Brother Knights, please take a moment an offer up a Hail Mary for the soul of Casie Barkman who was killed when a drunk driver crashed into her boyfriend's car; she was in the passenger seat. The accident occurred outside of Rio Vista, CA last Tuesday evening. The Barkmans are good friends of mine from Rio Vista. The boyfriend also needs you prayers, he is still in critical condition in the hospital, his last name is Saline. So please keep both of these families in your prayers this Christmas Season.

Please pray for healing and peace for Woody and his wife Pat. He has been diagnosed with esophical cancer and will begin treatments soon. Woody is Membership Chair for St. John Vianney Council 13842 at St. Rose of Lima in Reno and his membership blitz has brought in 37 new members so far this year. Woody has blessed us with his enthusiasm and support and now we need to pray him back to 100% health.

Michael, 37 years of age and son of Brother Knight Bob Drislane and his wife Helen, continues to be in a coma with severe brain fluid resulting from the automobile accident in Memphis, Tennessee. Michael suffered a heart attack while driving and collided with a tree. He is in Vanderbilt Medical Center. The medical prognosis is that a normal recovery from the auto accident is remote. Your prayers are requested for the entire Drislane family.

Brothers, I ask for the continued prayer for SK Art Baker, PGK, St Elizabeth Ann Seton Council 11029. He continues to progress, but that progress is very slow. He’s had 3 surgeries & he is still battling being the warrior that he is. Brother Art recognizes verbal commands, is sometimes awake, and has even mustered a smile when chided by his loyal & steadfast wife, Nell. We know not where the road he travels leads, but I am praying that our brother returns to us & I ask that you do the same. Pray also that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are poured abundantly over the Baker Family in their time of need.

Prayers for the soul of Austin Jon Park, a special Grandson

I always am saddened when I have to distribute the news of a Brother Knight leaving our world to be with our Lord, this announcement is very tough for me because its one of our children that has gone. Please join me in praying for the soul of Austin Jon Park, Grandson of Bruce Park of Council #12845 and son of my ATO Fraternaty Brother Jon Park. The entire Nevada community has lost a very special child and Austin will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of meeting him.

May God keep the Park family close in their hour of need.

PS: I went to the rosary last night and when I went to talk to his father and told him he and his family were in my prayers, He looked at me and said "pray for my son!" I told him I would have the entire Knights of Columbus praying for his soul. His funeral was Wednesday.

PGK Art Baker of Council 11029 had a successful surgery yesterday to remove two blood clots from his brain. As of this morning he is slowly improving and beginning to regain consciousness. He has a long way to go so please continue to pray to our Divine Healer for a full recovery and pray for strength to his wife, Nel and their family.

Surgery was performed today, but results are not yet known. No other details are available at this time. Prayers for Brother Arthur Cardone and Family

Br. Knights,

I have received news through State Warden Patrick Sullivan that Brother Arthur Cardone of Council 4828 has passed away. Br. Sullivan was notified by Br. Art's wife, Elizabeth, who wrote "Art passed away Wednesday, November 5th at approx 9:30 pm. We brought him home at 3:00 pm, to fulfill his wish to die at home in peace with his family."

Br. Art joined our Order on February 18, 1998, and was an active member of our Council until he moved out of the area. Although Br. Art and his family have been living in San Diego for the past several years, it was his desire to retain his Knights of Columbus membership through Fallon Council 4828 and he has stayed in close contact. A little over a year ago, Br. Art wrote an EMAIL to inform us that he was in a battle with cancer and asked for our prayers. At that time he wrote,
"I start chemo again next week and I can use all the help available. This is the do or die round and I'm ready for a fight. Thanks for the long distance help.

Br. Art has fought a good fight for well over a year, but he has now lost the battle. He will certainly be missed. Please pray for the repose of his soul and also for his family.

I just received word from Bother Mike Gerena, that Brother Don Randles is in distress. His lovely wife Diana is dying. She has suffered from ovarian cancer for the last 6 or 7 years and the doctors have finally stopped treatments. She has been moved to a hospice and is awaiting the call from the Lord. Your prayers for Brother Don to be strong and faithful to the Lord are greatly needed at this time. Our prayers that Diana finds the peace she so richly deserves in the arms of Our Lord are surly needed.

Bro. Richard asked me to let everyone know that our prayers were answered! His daughter, Alana, came out of the coma last Wednesday, and was doing well enough for the Doctors to consider her going home this past weekend.

Prayer is a powerful tool, which is what Bro. Richard said in his e-mail to me, and his family is grateful to have the Knights here in Nevada to pray for his family when it was really needed.

Prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Kathleen Fortaleza, the daughter of Brother Joaquin Sarabia, of Council 10442. Kathleen died on October 12th of complications from cancer.

A non-Catholic service will be held at Palm Mortuary, at Jones and Oakie in Las Vegas, on Saturday, October 18th, at 3:00 PM.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, in Las Vegas, on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 10:00 AM, preceded by a recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 AM. A reception/luncheon is planned after the Memorial Mass in the Church hall.
Brother Knights and friends may attend either or both of the scheduled services.

I am requesting Prayer for my Father, Brother Stanley Boganski of Council 9899, Prince of Peace in Las Vegas. My Father was taken to Valley Hospital ER, August 5th, was later transferred to a rehabilitation facility, and was just send by Ambulance back to Valley Hospital ER. My Dad is 94 yo and has been a 3rd Degree Knight for about 61 years, is a Life Member and transferred to Council 9899 last September when he and my Mom (90) moved here from New York.

Prayers for Rick Fambrini

Brothers,

Brother Rick Fambrini is recovering from a high grade strep infection that developed into cellulitus in his left ankle. He was in Carson Tahoe Hospital last week, and is now home. He is only now putting weight on his feet, and can only take a few steps before the pain becomes too much for him. Since he needs to have his leg elevated, he's not able to spend much time at his computer.

He's asked that we keep him in our prayers for a quick (quicker) recovery. As many of you know, Brother Rick has been very active in our Order, and him being laid up isn't easy. We have several Knights events coming up, and he really wants to attend.

Please keep him and his wife Sally in your prayers, for a speedy recovery and patience to get through this. Phone calls would are ok at this time.

Passing of John Lacey

Greetings, Brother Knights: I received information this morning of Brother Knight John Lacey passing away this past Friday, August 8. John was 73 and his wife said he had a stroke on Friday.

A funeral Mass will be held on August 16 at 11:00 am at St.Rose of Lima Chapel. John, was a 4h Degree Knight and Don Mazenko is checking on the Color Guard for the service on Saturday.

To show respect,unity and fraternity to a fellow brother passing away if you can, attend the service on Saturday.
