Update on Frank P's son

Brother Knights and Ladies,

Here is a the most recent communication I received from Frank regarding his son... Tony.

Please continue with prayers for them.

Jim Kelly, SD

-------------------------------------
From: Frank Pulice
Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2010 16:59:29 -0400
Subject: Re: Your son
To: Jim Kelly

Bro. Jim: I sure appreciate your continued inquiries about my son's condition - very considerate.

Tony is making some positive progress - they have him sitting up 3 or more hours a day and trying to waine him off the ventilator, but the latter process is slow. Addionaly, he has more movement in his arms and he is having daily therepy to increase same. Unfotunately, however, he still has minimal movement in his legs, but I'm advised it is possible that condition may improve (?). He is still in the ICU ad is likely he will remain there until he is off the ventilator. So, in summary, he continues to slowly impprove , but, boy, it's a long and tedious process and the ultimate result is still unknown.

Please be assured that all the prayers are greatly appreciated.

I continue to monitor your final Membership stats - hope your last minute efforts pay off.

Take Care,

Frank Pulice

Please keep my best friend "Leona" in your prayers

Please keep my best friend in your prayers

Leona ran my office for many years. On Friday she had a brain aneurysm explode, on Saturday she was pronounced clinically brain dead. She is an organ donor and they will take various organs on Sunday am. She is giving the gift love & life after death as she did in her short life on earth. She was my best friend and I loved her dearly. My office staff and clients will miss her as well.

Please say a little prayer for Leona. Some of you knew her, she was a little shy when it came to social functions, but has attended with me in the past.

I will really miss my best friend.

Reality check stands out in times like this, we are all part of God's plan.

As our lessons tell us, death will come to all of us, we know not when, or where or how.

Vivat Jesus,

Dave Briggs, DD10/SW

Received 6/12/10
Prayer request for Carol Holzhauer

Brothers,

The following is health report on Carol Holzhauer, wife of PSD Frank Holzhauer. Carol was waiting to have a carotid artery surgery on her right side. She had an angiogram on Wed., 6-10. There was found to be no blockage and she was sent home with that good news. Carol's left side felt "weird" and it was thought to be the result of the drugs and the fact that she had to remain still for several hours after the angiogram procedure. This was at 4PM on 6-10. By 9PM, the "weirdness" had not disappeared and Carol called the doctors office. He told her to go to the emergency. After several tests it was determined that Carol had a very minor stroke. She spent Wed. & Thurs. nights in the hospital. It has been decided by the surgeon, Frank, and Carol to go ahead and have the carotid artery surgery tomorrow, Saturday, 6-12. We do not have a definite time yet, but it will probably be in the morning. The risk of doing surgery Saturday is less than the risk of waiting. We have the best surgeon in the area doing this. Our hopes are very high.

Please keep Carol and Frank in your prayers.

Here is a the most recent communication I received from Frank regarding his son... Tony.
Please continue with prayers for them.

-------

Hi Short Timer!

Thanks for your inquiry, Jim.

Tony is doing much better this week. Last week he had a heart pacer proceedure, since his heart was stopping frequently due nerve damage, and he's alert with some movement of his arms, but nothing yet in the legs. Also, he's still on a ventilator, but hopefully, getting off of that will be the next major event - I hope. So, it's still a waiting game, as to what the future holds, and we continue to pray.

Thanks again, and take care

Frank

Prayers Requested for Mario Giallongo and his Wife Judy

Brother Knights: Our Brother Sir Knight Mario Giallongo and his Wife Judy are in need of your Prayers.

Hi everyone, just a quick note before I crash to let you know that Mario is in the hospital tonight. He had a fall last week and his back pain became so sever that he was no longer able to get in or out of his wheel chair. We struggled with this for about 4 days when it became obvious that my magic wand ran out of it's special power therefor sending us up to the VA and sitting there for over 4 hrs. before we were able to see a doctor. It was decided that he should stay for a couple of days to see if they can reduce his pain level and get him going again. His biggest regret...................not playing cards at the senior center. After not eating since the day before I was able to break away and get him a burger and fries which made all difference in the world in his disposition; never take food away from an Italian. So far the x-ray's show no breaks other than his rods that have been broken for a number of years. We are hoping that it ends there and he can be back home in a couple of days. Further test will tell us if that can happen. Can we please ask for your prayers and good thoughts that he has a good recovery and is home soon. Thanks and I will send an update as I have it. Kim Sullivan's home from UMC - Thank you for your Thoughts and Prayers

Brother Knights and Ladies,

We have good news to share... Kim and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for her successful surgery and recovery. Everything has gone well as can be expected and on schedule... she had the surgery to remove her gallbladder on Friday, April 9th and came home Saturday afternoon April 10th. The surgery has made her sore at times, but this is to be expected. On Saturday night she was unable to sleep in bed because of the pain... she was more comfortable on our recliner couch, but on Sunday night she was able to sleep in bed and slept well.

Kim is attending Everest College in Henderson for her Business Degree, and on Monday (April 12) the new spring semester began and she was in class, so I think it is safe to say she is well on her way to a full recovery. Of course it will be another 4 to 6 weeks of recovery time... She is in God's hands now... (as we all are.) Please continue to keep Kim in your prayers for her full recovery. Thank you.

Up date on Bill Theobald (Dave Briggs' Brother)

Thanks for all your prayers...

My brother went home yesterday. He has to go back for a follow-up on his bleeding on the brain. They ran 3-4 scans while in ic-trauma and each time was better. So now he has some broken ribs and clavicle, but will heal in time.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers. Prayers really do work! He looks like he was in fight and lost big time. I visited him yesterday afternoon at home, his concerns were when he could have a beer, Tanya his daughter told him in about 3-4 months. So I know he's on the mend.

Prayer request/ Update on Kim Sullivan

Brother Knights and Ladies,

First I want to thank everyone for their prayers for my wife Kim... I have shared all the responses I have received back with her, and I can see... how uplifting your prayers are for her and her spirits... Thank you.

After a full day at UMC Hospital in Las Vegas, we now know that her surgery to remove her gallbladder will be on Friday (April 9) and if all goes well... she will get to come home on Saturday. The reason is that her gallbladder has an infection from the stones and it would not be safe until Friday to have the surgery. I will keep everyone informed.

Please continue to keep Kim in your prayers for a successful surgery and speedy and full recovery.

EMERGENCY PRAYERS

Brother Knights: I'm asking for lots of prayer from everyone. Awhile back I asked for prayers for my brother's Great grandson. He was born about 6 months ago and was not expected to live. He was born with his colon on the outside of his body. Sense then his colon, liver, kidneys and just about everything else in his body has died. He has had about a dozen surgery's already. They live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They just received a phone call from the Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. It is 6:30 Saturday evening. He has to be there for emergency surgery at 6 AM Easter morning. They are going to replace almost everything in his little body. The surgery is going to take about 12 hours. Please everyone, pray for him. He has been a real fighter so far. Don't let him down.

Update on Grace Moran's Illness

Brothers and Fr. Sam,

After four days at Mountain View Hospital, the doctors released Grace for Easter and to be able to take a PET scan under Medicare rules. The tests at Mountain View discovered a 4 cm mass in the lower abdomen. She is taking strong pain medications which allow her to move a bit without pain and to sleep.

My daughters prepared a beautiful Easter dinner and we were able to enjoy it as a family (actually on Saturday when we were all together).

Monday, I am going to call Dr. Kawalski's office to arrange for the PET scan. The medical plan now is to determine the extent of the illness and readmit at Sunrise Hospital for the actual surgery, because of it's complexity and Sunrise is better equipped to do it.

That's about all we know at the moment. Grace, my family, and I appreciate your prayers and cards.

Fraternally,
Tom Moran

Update- Prayer request for Bob Elmore

SK Bob Elmore has improved; Bob is a member of Council 3741 in Henderson and Assembly 2164 in Las Vegas. He still needs our prayrers.

An update from his wife follows.

Richard E. Hawkins, FN
Rev. Van Skee Assembly

--

Just wanted to let you know that Bob is in a rehab facility - Life Care Center of Paradise Valley. He'd been at St. Rose de Lima since 2/1, was transferred to Kindred Care at Desert Springs Hospital and from there to Life Care. He has to learn to walk and use his hands and arms. He had an infection that ended up being contagious and I was not allowed to visit because of my precarious health.

At the time he was at Kindred, I was one floor down in the same hospital with the same infection - caused by the use of Levaquin. Today was the first day I've seen him in two weeks. My youngest son was in town for two weeks, now my daughter is here with me till Monday evening then she flies back home.

That black cloud that has hung over us since the end of 2007, has not disappeared at all. Back in 2008, Bob told everyone that he gave up his wife for Lent, now I've given up Bob for Lent.

Don't know how long Bob will be in rehab; it's a matter of his cooperation and determination to get better. Will keep you informed.

Please continue to pray for the two of us.

God bless,
Jeri Elmore

They requested not to be mentioned, but know that the healing power of our Mother is strong.

God bless,

Dear Family and Friends

As some of you know, a friend of mine, Cindy Heffington, was in an accident on New Year's Eve day with her 9 year old daughter, Ashley. Cindy was pretty bruised, etc., but her injuries are minor. Ashley, on the other hand, has had serious head trauma. She was unconscious, and is currently in a drug induced coma. She has had fluid and brain swelling, and last night was a very rough night for her, and of course, her family.

Please, if you can spare a moment of your time, please take a moment to click on the link below. It will tell you more about Ashley's story, show you pictures of her, and even allow you to post a message to her and/or her family. And then... PLEASE PRAY FOR ASHLEY! Share this information with everyone you know. Ashley needs our prayers more than anything now!

May God Bless each of you and hold you safely in the palms of His hands.

With Love,
Lynn
